SCM

Signal converter module

The signal converting module (SCM) is a stand-alone merging unit (SAMU). The SCM process bus interface performs analog-to-digital conversion of input signals from current and voltage measuring sensors and transmits sampled values (SV) over the Ethernet network in accordance with IEC 61869-9 as part of the MIR terminal. The SCM connects to the process bus via digital interfaces and publishes SV streams. Devices connected to the process bus are configured to receive the SV stream (e.g., digital relay protection terminals, digital electricity meters, power quality monitoring systems, and synchronous phasor measurement devices). The SCM transmits a single SV stream with a sampling rate of 96 samples per period.

The signal composition in each stream is defined at the software level:
• Channel 1: Ia
• Channel 2: Ib
• Channel 3: Ic
• Channel 4: Ia + Ib + Ic
• Channel 5: Ua
• Channel 6: Ub
• Channel 7: Uc
• Channel 8: Ua + Ub + Uc
